A Muddy Day

.
Today both of the kids had dentist appointments (Gavin's 1st!) and then we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Phillips' house to drop off Gavin for a special Grace & Mommy time.

I had purchased a Groupon deal awhile back that was good for 2 mugs plus studio time at a local pottery painting place and I thought that since Grace loves being artsy and she is getting old enough to do something like this, that it would be a fun time for us. Not to mention, Father's Day is a couple weeks away and it will make a great keepsake gift.

In the amount of time that it took me to paint my mug a single color, Grace was finished with hers. Of course I had to help her with the majority of the artwork and to make sure the paint was thick enough to not be all streaky once fired in the kiln. It will be interesting to see how they turn out once we go back in a week to pick them up.

Here are a few pictures from our "day out" which was followed by McDonalds Happy Meals. :-)
I realized that I need to spend more one-on-one time with each of the kids because it was very enjoyable for the both of us.

I should mention that at her Dentist appointment, Grace had been numbed in her upper right gums and lip which caused her to smile a little differently than usual.

"Poop" is a Fun Word

.
Earlier this afternoon I set up the little kiddie pool for the first time of the season. It wasn't as warm as it has been lately but Grace begged me to get it ready because she just loves the water, but more importantly -- she just got 2 brand new swimsuits.

Moments before this video was shot, Gavin was crying about something -- I don't even know what. Oh the perils of being 3. He quickly got over it and I just happened to be there with the camera.

Grace's Preschool Year

.
Even though this didn't occur today, I felt the need to add this post because it is a huge moment in our lives.

On Thursday, May 17th Grace finished her very first year of school (Preschool). As we left the school building with all of her pictures, artwork and certificate of completion the lump rose in my throat. I fought the tears away and asked her if she had a good last day. She seemed unfazed by the fact that she will never again be back in that classroom and will never again sit among the same friends.

I don't know why I had such a hard time with this -- I know it is the first of many beginnings and endings for her.

On Tuesday, May 22nd they had a Preschool Program and performed lots of songs they had learned throughout the year. In attendance was myself, Daddy, Gavin, Grandma Zokoe, Aunt Tori and Uncle Caleb. We were all so proud of Grace and her performance. After the conlusion of every song, Grace smiled at everyone in the audience.

We also said our "goodbyes" to Mrs. Dolce, Grace's Preschool teacher.

And again to her friend Emily, who we hope to see some time over the summer to play

Onto Kindergarten adventures in the Fall of 2012. We will be finding out in the next couple of weeks which school Grace will be attending. I am so not ready for this...

Not One Single Day...

.
Today I was looking through some books I had gotten for the purposes of review in time for Mother's Day and they are "Mommy Journals".

I have always wanted to start something to not only leave for the kids to read as they grow, but for me also, so I don't forget life's "little moments" with the kids and our day-to-day life.

Not One Single Day is without its moments that should be documented. That is the purpose of this blog.
